A Letter From Jared and Lorne Supporting Colorado Gives Day

Tuesday, December 6th is Colorado Gives Day, a state wide celebration of non profits and you can now schedule your donation for Real Colorado and it will count toward earning us a part of the $1.6 million Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund! All participating Colorado Gives Day nonprofits earn a percentage of the fund, so the more we raise, the more we get! As we get ready for the biggest giving day of the year, we reflect on the difficult times we’ve weathered together over the past two years. Despite these challenges, we are strong and remain committed to helping each player learn, grow, and celebrate his or her love of the game. We are dedicated to developing character, integrity, and personal growth for the youth player, student athlete and future leader. We serve our community by continuing a tradition of fun and excellence in developing players, coaches and teams. I wanted to send you a quick note to let you know why Real Colorado is one of the causes I’m proud to support.

As a soccer player, coach, and leader, I have learned so many life lessons. Many I did not know I was learning such as dealing with different personalities, being resilient to temporary defeats and failures, being healthy and active in my choices which are so valuable to me now as an adult. Not surprising, I am still refining many of those lessons today as an adult.

Real Colorado has played an instrumental role in developing my love for the game, my passion for its growth and the enjoyment of all the successes seen by our players, coaches and staff.

These last few years have only reenforced this, and what a challenging couple of years we have had.Through out, the soccer field has been one of the most normal places for our players. A safe place to play with friends, be active, engage physically and mentally, to learn and simply be the definition of a kid we as adults grew up as.

But it hasn’t been all good and we have seen a drastic increase in the need for scholarship support. Yes, its Douglas County, but within and without our community are needs that are unprecedented. It only takes $35 to buy a uniform for a first time player to Real Colorado. At the youngest age groups, less than $100 provides them 7-8 games, 8 or more practices, but so much more importantly, a chance to be kids and play a great sport with an against their peers.

At the more advanced levels, where our club has been part of the story of famous international stars such as Mallory Pugh, Ethan Horvath, Janine Beckie, Tajon Buchanon, Jaelin Howel and Sophie Smith, your support can help these players achieve what their talents allow. Without a club like Real Colorado, without families who gave selflessly, our scholarship program could not have provided many of our top players the platform to achieve greatness both on the field, but often to use soccer as a tool to get a college education and a promising future as a leader in another professional field.

Soccer makes a difference for youth, Real Colorado makes a difference in soccer. I hope that you will consider supporting Real Colorado like 100% of our staff and board, too. On December 6th or earlier, your gift will go even further thanks to the endowment fund of 1.6 million Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund.

Real Colorado understands how important it is for young people to have mentors and role models in their lives. It’s an integral part of our It’s How You Play the Game focus. Please consider a donation, you can schedule it today for recognition on Tuesday. Even if scholarship is not your first choice, giving to a non profit helps them do more, be more and help more. Thanks for being on this journey with us. We can’t wait for what’s next.

Best,

Jared and Lorne
