Meet the Medical Team at CommonSpirit Health

CommonSpirit Health and Real Colorado Soccer formed a partnership to promote the health and wellness of the entire Real community. As a result, CommonSpirit Health’s Sports Medicine Center now staffs a medical team lead by to provide injury management for Real Colorado players.

ATs are specially trained in Injury/Illness prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses. ATs have a bachelors or masters degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program and must pass a comprehensive board certification test. ATs work under the direction of physicians, as prescribed by state licensure statutes, and to keep their certification they must meet ongoing continuing education requirements to keep this certification.

Meet the CommonSpirit Health Athletic Trainers

Mitch Gardzalla - Athletic Trainer
Mitch.Gardzalla@commonspirit.org

Mitch has been certified as an Athletic Trainer since 2015.  He has experience in a variety of settings to include College Athletics, Professional Rugby, Football, Basketball, Combat sports, Soccer, Baseball, Hockey, and even performing arts. The unique and high-level Athletic Training experience has shaped and fine-tuned the way that Mitch evaluates, treats and rehabilitates his athletes to return to playing the sport they love.  Mitch states, “I believe that full range of movement is key to a lifetime of healthy living. And with athletics, efficient and pain free range of motion is key to injury prevention and sport-specific performance”.

As a medical professional, Mitch leads with empathy and understanding for what each patient is feeling, listening closely to their true needs.  Effective communication, and perhaps more importantly active listening, are imperative in treating the whole patient.

Mitch is a passionate car enthusiast and recently ran a powder coating shop that specialized in automotive wheels.  He is also equally passionate about exercise and biomechanics; with a strong affinity for lifting heavy weights.  Mitch enjoys spending as much time outdoors as he can and loves going up to the mountains with his dog, Hunni.

Brittany Vigil - Athletic Trainer
Brittany.Vigil@commonspirit.org

A Colorado native, Brittany attended Colorado State University Pueblo, where she was a part of the football team that won a national championship. After college, she spent seven years at a prestigious orthopedic sports medicine clinic—two years in the physical therapy department and five years on the clinical side working directly with physicians. These experiences shaped her commitment to high-quality patient care and gave her a deep understanding of sports-related injuries and recovery.

As a Christian, Brittany’s values guide the way she works with athletes. She aims to always have their best interests at heart, helping them return to the field safely while building meaningful relationships throughout the recovery process. Brittany states: “Supporting athletes as they return to the sport they love is one of the most fulfilling parts of my career”.

Outside of work, Brittany is an avid golfer—a passion she has had since she was eight years old. She is also the proud dog mom of Nala, a tiny chocolate teacup Chihuahua who truly lives up to her reputation as the sweetest. Brittany is also recently engaged to her fiancé, Dakota, and they are excited to be getting married in March.
